Former Providence teacher to be re-arraigned in sexual assault, child pornography case

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) –The former Providence middle school teacher charged with sexual assault and producing child pornography will face a judge Wednesday.

Joseph Gannon was arrested at Nathaniel Greene Middle School after being reported by someone who said they were sexually assaulted by him.

The 50-year-old has been in police custody since his arrest.

Gannon will be re-arraigned after his case was moved from district to superior court.

Gannon is expected in court at 8:30 a.m.
