Former RI State Rep charged with embezzlement

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Former Rhode Island State Representative Peter Palumbo, 56, was indicted Wednesday on several charges.
The charges against Palumbo are one count of embezzlement, one count of unlawful appropriation over $1,000, and one count of personal use of campaign funds.
Palumbo could face up to ten years in prison for these charges.
Palumbo allegedly embezzled over $100 from the Friends of Peter Palumbo Campaign Finance Account between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2014.
He also allegedly appropriated $1,000 from the same campaign account between May and December of 2014.
Palumbo is set to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on June 14, 2017.
