Former Woonsocket resident sentenced for child molestation

A former Woonsocket resident is sentenced to 60 years with 27 to serve for multiple counts of child molestation.

35-year-old David Girard, of Dixfield, Maine, was charged with three counts of first and three counts of second degree child molestation. He pled guilty in Superior Court on November 20th of 2014.

If the case had proceeded to trial, he State was prepared to prove that Girard molested three young girls on multiple occasions between 2005 and 2012. At the time of abuse, the victims ranged in age from six to 11 years.

Girard was ordered to undergo sex offender counseling and must have no contact with his victims. After his release, he is subject to lifetime community notification and registration and GPS monitoring.
