Foster man charged with arson to appear in court

FOSTER, R.I. (WLNE) — A Foster man accused of setting his home on fire is expected to appear in court Monday.

Lawrence Lopez, 62, is accused of pouring gas all over his home and using a propane torch to start the fire nearly two months ago.

Investigators said the fire set by Lopez because his family wanted to sell the property.

Lopez was charged with first degree arson, and held without bail during a court hearing in April.
