PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ The Rhode Island Foundation is awarding more than $31,000 in grants through a fund that promotes access to information.
The foundation announced this week that 17 nonprofit organizations would benefit from its “Archive, Document, Display and Disseminate Fund.”
Philanthropist Herman Rose says the ADDD Fund strengthens libraries and other civic, cultural and literacy-focused organizations. Rose created the fund in 1986.
The foundation says the goals of the fund are to promote access to information and to provide challenge grants for fundraising campaigns.
This year’s recipients include the Pawtucket Public Library, which received funds to purchase equipment to digitize historic photographs and regalia so it can be viewed online, and Providence CityArts for Youth, to design, print and distribute a document showcasing the organization’s work for distribution to donors and policy-makers.
