Foxborough Police officer recognized for saving person from smoking car

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WLNE) — The Foxborough Police Department awarded an officer on Tuesday after he rescued a person from a smoking car on July 25.
Patrolman Brendan Fayles was granted the Life Saving Award.
According to police, Fayles responded to South Street on July 25 for reports of a car that had crashed into a home and caught on fire.
Upon arrival, Fayles discovered that the vehicle was smoking and “took swift and courageous action by smashing the passenger side window and without regard to his own safety, successfully extricated the injured occupant.”
Police said the occupant was brought to safety just moments before the car lit on fire.
“Patrolman Fayles’ quick response, presence of mind, and heroic efforts directly contributed to saving the life of the accident victim. His actions reflect the highest standards of courage and dedication to duty, and they exemplify the selfless service that is the foundation of this department’s mission,” Foxborough police said.
