Foxborough public safety crews out in full force at Gillette Friday, gearing up for two shows featuring country star Luke Bryan . Extra precautions are being taken due to the forecasted heat.
"In all honesty our heat index hasn’t been this high in quite a few years," says Foxborough Fire Chief Roger Hatfield.
Chief Hatfield says there will be water available to those who need it, adding above all hydration is what people need to be mindful of.
"Water is the answer here. Not alcohol."
While they haven’t run into high temperatures in recent years, Chief Hatfield says they’re always prepared for it, even with thousands of fans flooding Gillette.
"For tonight’s concert about 31,000 and then for tomorrow nights concert about 45,000," he says.
Due to the heat and large crowds they are increasing Foxborough safety crews at a normal concert they’d have about 9 ambulances for this weekend they’re having 13 just to start. Bike patrols, police officers, and medical personnel have also been up staffed to help meet the need. We caught up with a few fans getting ready for the concert and asked them how they plan to stay hydrated.
"In between adult beverages, we will drink lots of water," says concert attendee Brandy Pappas.
"We bring lots of water, we have shade and we just have a great time,” adds Melissa Scott.
