Foxwoods to close for 2 weeks

PROVIDENCE, R.I (WLNE) Foxwoods Resort and Casino announced today that it will begin a two-week closure starting Tuesday at 8 p.m.
The closure seeks “alignment with the state’s mandate to minimize the risks and impacts of COVID-19”, according to a company statement.
Most employees will be furloughed, and able to access their benefits. Some may be eligible for a Team Member Emergency Assistance Fund, according to the statement. A reduced crew will oversee security, communications, and other operations.
According to a statement on its website, the state’s other casino, Mohegan Sun, was in talks with Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont regarding its planned closure. The casino is already operating with a reduced area for gaming and other activities.
