F&R Auto customers describe what they say happened with dealer

Alexandra Goyette was in the market for a new, safe car to drive her young kids around and build her credit.

"We’re young, we have bad credit, this is pretty much the only way to build it up."

But she says that’s not what she got at F&R Auto Sales in Westport.

"When they did the inspection I drove away with a broken axle…tires I’ve replaced… I’ve replaced three batteries…I still don’t have any information on the vehicle other than a registration."

Seven months and $2,000 later, she still has no answers. Her story is similar to over 100 others that have been filed with the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, saying they were duped by F&R and its owner, Francis Correiro, and given cars that were unsafe,  defective, and unfit to drive.

"They told me everything was fine and they wouldn’t sell a vehicle they wouldn’t put their own children in…it wouldn’t even start."

When Vanessa Belisle took her new car back to F&R for repairs, she says it took weeks.

"Everytime I’d call they’d say it wasn’t ready…the mechanics weren’t in…they fired a mechanic…whatever the case may be it was always an excuse."

Belisle says her car still has problems an, like Goyette, she wasn’t given any paperwork.

"We don’t even want this vehicle it’s been more work than it’s even worth…in the beginning all we’ve asked is for them to just take it back."

ABC6 News showed up at the car lot Friday to speak to the owner. They refused comment and asked us to leave.

There is a preliminary injunction hearing next week where the AG’s Office and the dealer can argue their sides.
