PROVIDENCE, R.I. — If you are shopping around Providence this weekend, you will not have to worry about paying for parking.

Beginning Friday, shoppers will be offered two free hours of parking from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. in select districts.

Those areas include Fountain Street in downtown Providence and parts of Atwells Avenue.

Mayor Elorza met with business representatives and community members Wednesday to re-launch #ThinkPVD and announce free holiday parking.

#ThinkPVD is a campaign to encourage residents and visitors to “think, shop, and buy” locally all year, but primarily during the busy holiday season.

The program runs through January 1st.
