Free skating offered Saturday in Downtown Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – The ALEX AND ANI City Center is offering free ice skating in downtown Providence Saturday afternoon as part of the city’s Winter Lights Market and Tree Lighting event.

ABC6 connected with Woonsocket residents Brad Lemieux and Holly Walker as they enjoyed some time on the ice Saturday morning. Lemieux said day’s the warm weather made for a pleasant skating experience.

“”It’s not too bad,” Lemieux said. “It’s a little warmer than I expected it to be. It’s a pretty nice day out. The sun is shining, so we’re just happy to be here.”

“It’s a good time so other people should come out and do it too, right?” said Walker. “It’s just a great day to celebrate December first.”

Free skate hours will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
