The Everett Company Stage School put on a physical theater piece examining violence and America‘s prison system.

It’s called the Freedom Project. With personal experiences and research, actors are calling upon change in the community.

America is the most incarcerating country in the world.

A woman from with the company and the Mount Hope neighborhood says shootings like the one last night are often drawn form a history of violence and anger.

“It’s unfortunate because a lot of these kids are just angry and have a lot of issues going on and they don’t know what to do with their emotions and they just take it out with this violence and obviously it’s very unfortunate you know,” said Justine Bevilacqua.

The Freedom Project is playing at the Everett stage through April 12th.
