DARTMOUTH, M.A. (WLNE) —  A man wanted as a fugitive from California was arrested Tuesday afternoon after he was attempting to sell magazines.

According to the Dartmouth Police Department, 27-year-old Trevell Scott, or Chicago, I.L., was arrested around 3:15 p.m., after reports came forward about a suspicious male going door-to-door attempting to solicit magazine sales.

Officers quickly determined Scott was not properly registered to solicit in the town of Dartmouth, and a full extradition warrant was issued for his arrest by the California Department of Corrections for burglary into a dwelling.

Scott was arrested and charged with being a fugitive from justice.

"This further solidifies the importance of the rules and regulations that have been put in place regarding solicitation in Dartmouth. The arrest of Mr. Scott should also serve as an important reminder to everyone that you never know who you may encounter at your own front door, so please be very cautious about who you decide to open it for!" said Acting Chief of Police Brian Levesque.
