Fugitive wanted by Providence Police captured in Ohio

WADSWORTH, Ohio (WLNE) – A fugitive wanted in connection with a 2017 kidnapping and child rape case was arrested by U.S. Marshals Wednesday evening.

Marcos Garcia-Solis, 31, was apprehended by U.S. Marshals, assisted by the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, around 6:45 Wednesday evening.

The U.S. Marshals, Rhode Island Division, along with the RI Violent Fugitive Task Force recovered information that allowed authorities in Ohio to locate Garcia-Solis, who had been working in the Wadsworth, a small city in Northern Ohio.

Garcia-Solis was wanted by Providence Police for an alleged kidnapping, child molestation, and rape of a 13-year old girl in 2017.

“The arrest of Marcos Garcia-Solis was extremely important to our department,” said Providence Police Major David Lapatin. “His heinous crimes drew our concern for the safety of other pptential victims around the country.”

Lapatin thanked the U.S. Marshals Service for their work in locating and apprehending Garcia-Solis.
