Fugitive who escaped from R.I. Hospital arrested in Puerto Rico

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- David Marroquin, a suspect from a breaking-and-entering charge who escaped from police custody at Rhode Island Hospital in January, was arrested today in Puerto Rico, according to a statement from the Rhode Island State Police.
Marroquin set-off a statewide manhunt when he managed to slip out of handcuffs while being escorted from a police car to the hospital. Police at the time had warned that he could be armed with a knife.
The 19-year-old had eluded police until today, when the state police’s Violent Fugitive Task Force sent out a statement that said U.S. Marshals had apprehended him in Puerto Rico.
In addition to the charges Marroquin faces in Rhode Island, police said he could face a federal charge of Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution
