CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — A fire occurred at a precious metals recycling business in Cranston Thursday.

A fire occurred in a small furnace at Gannon and Scott on Kenney Drive when liquified aluminum that was burning leaked out of the furnace.

The fire was contained to the area, but firefighters said they could not use water to extinguish the fire and had to wait for it to burn out.

The department added that some smoke went into offices in the above floor, but the business could return to normal operation.
