Gas line hit during construction in Norton, residents temporarily evacuated

NORTON, Mass. (WLNE) — A gas leak caused by construction crews digging on a Norton road caused some residents to temporarily evacuate on Wednesday.

Police said a construction worker struck a 2 inch service line on Kensington Road just after 10:30 a.m.

Officials told an ABC 6 News crew on scene that one contractor had a minor eye injury.

Eversource said the area was deemed safe around noon. Crews remained on scene to make repairs.

About 10 homes were temporarily evacuated out of caution.
