Gas prices drop again as summer winds down
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The average gas price in Rhode Island has dropped again as the summer driving season closes out.
According to AAA Northeast, the average price for a gallon of gas in the Ocean State is $3.22 per gallon, down six cents from last week, down 18 cents from a month ago and 52 cents from a year ago.
Rhode Island’s average price stands at 10 cents lower than the national average.
This drop can be attributed to falling oil prices and acceptable inventories, as well as a lack of tropical storm activity in the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico.
