Getting Hotter
Day 1 of this potential heat wave is in the books with an official high of 90 recorded at TF Green Airport yesterday. The heat continues accompanied by humidity and haze today. High temperatures will top out in the lower-90s for the second consecutive day inland, while beaches will have temps top out in the upper-70s. Of course, it’s not just the heat, it’s the heat index- what it feels like- that will make today oppressive for some. The heat index in areas in the interior has the potential to hit the low to mid-90s today and Thursday. A Heat Advisory in in effect through Thursday evening as a result. Speaking of Thursday… it’s the first day of Summer with the solstice time of 4:51 pm. Heat and humidity peaks with an air temperature in the lower-90s and a feel like temperature close to 100. A cold front on Friday evening will end the heat trend with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cooler air moves in for the weekend and highs Saturday will top out in the 70s. The weekend will still be muggy though and unsettled weather remains through Monday of next week.
