A giant flag put up by a Newport business was stolen overnight.
The flag which weighs about 100 pounds was hung on the side of the Newport Blues Café at around 5 pm on Wednesday.
A worker tells ABC 6 News that it was still hanging when they closed up at around 1 am. It was reported missing when people arrived at work around 7 am.
The flag which comes with a price tag of about $1000, was lent to the restaurant. The person who lent it did have an extra one, which is the one now on display.
“It’s just so disappointing. We try to do a lot of things for the community. We always help out with fundraiser’s and like I said all of the families going by everybody loved it and it on all the pictures on facebook and twitter yesterday. I just don’t get it,” said Courtney Sullivan and employee at Newport Blues Café.
The restaurant says they are not looking to press charges, but are asking whoever took the flag to return it.
