Girl hit, killed by MBTA train in Whitman

WHITMAN, Mass. (WLNE) — The Whitman police and fire departments announced the death of a juvenile girl after she was hit by an MBTA train Tuesday night.

According to officials, at approximately 8:30 p.m., police were notified by MBTA Transit Police about a possible incident involving a train striking a pedestrian on the tracks.

When first responders arrived on the scene, they said they found a juvenile girl, who is unidentified at this time, and pronounced her dead on the scene.

Massachusetts State Police, MBTA Transit Police and the Whitman Department of Public Works also responded to the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by state police detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.

The Whitman Police Department and fire department shared their condolences to the victim’s friends and family.
