SOMERSET, Mass. (WLNE) — Local Girl Scouts in the Somerset/Swansea area recently gave back to the community.

Girl Scouts from Troops 1163 and 882 chose to hold a supply drive over the past month for their local animal shelter as a way to earn their Bronze Award.

The girls delivered the donated supplies, including pet food, pet toys, towels, blankets, cleaning supplies, and much more to the Somerset/Swansea animal shelter on Monday.

Girl Scouts Emily Brown, Kate Castro, Cambrie Kelley, Hannah Rapoza, and Avery Sadorf were all involved in the supply drive, riding in a trolley from Fisher Bus Company to deliver the donations.

“Our hearts have been overflowing with joy and humbled to see how much the community has shown up for the girls,” mothers Molly Sadorf and Kristin Kelley said in a statement. “The quote ‘We rise by lifting others’ is very fitting here, the girls were able to rise earning their Bronze Award, by their community lifting them up.”

Police stations from Somerset and Swansea, the Somerset Public Library, Lil Audrey’s, and Spinnaker Veterinary Clinic all served as drop off locations for donations.
