James Maffio, 56, and Roger Simpson, 54, were both arrested for separate incidences of marijuana cultivation after police obtained search warrants for their residences. The warrants came after month long investigations of the men. According to a media release from Glocester Police, Maffio and Simpson had “large marijuana grows,” with “highly sophisticated lighting and water filtration systems.”
Over 100 plants were seized from both their residences, as well as 20 pounds of processed marijuana, roughly $28,000, a 2005 Lexus and the equipment used to grow the plants.
Both Maffio and Simpson appeared in the 3rd District Court. Maffio was charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver and cultivate, and conspiracy. Simpson was charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver and cultivate over 5 kilos, possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver and conspiracy.
A plea of not guilty was entered on all counts. Maffio’s bail is $10,000 with surety, while Simpson’s is $75,000 with surety. Their next scheduled court date is May 21.
