Going to the Celtics victory parade? What to know before you go

BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — The Boston Duck Boats are set to carry the Larry O’Brien trophy through the city of Boston today.

On Monday, the team scored their 18th championship against the Dallas Mavericks in Game 5 of the NBA finals. 

The parade is set to start at 11 a.m. at TD Garden and make its way through Downtown Center to the Hynes Convention Center.

There is a chance of thunderstorms and and severe weather later in the day, with the temperature hitting a high of 81 degrees.

The Massachusetts Bay Authority has increased trains for passengers to join the parade festivities.

Subway service has been increased with trains running every six to eight minutes.

Commuter rails will be modified with train times before and after the parade, however bicycles will not be allowed on board.

MBTA has encouraged fans to purchase roundtrip fares ahead of time.

Officials have advised that fans are not allowed to stand on mailboxes, bus vestibules, rooftops, or light poles during the parade.

Items are listed before that are prohibited from the parade: 

  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Large bags, coolers or glass containers
  • Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), commonly referred to as “drones,” along the parade route
  • Weapons of any kind (or replicas of such)
  • Fireworks

The following streets are restricted for parking along the parade route:

  • Causeway Street, Both sides from North Washington Street to Merrimac Street
  • Staniford Street, Both sides from Causeway Street to Cambridge Street
  • Cambridge Street, Both sides from Staniford Street to Tremont Street
  • Tremont Street, Both sides from Cambridge Street to Boylston Street
  • Boylston Street, Both sides from Washington Street to Massachusetts Avenue
