This comes on the heels of the Secretary of State’s investigation into Michael Corso, who had a secret deal to lobby on behalf of “38 studios” for $300,000 thousand dollars per year.
“Let’s make sure we bring out lobbying out into the public and make sure that we know about it. This sort of secret lobbying that Corso was doing without identifying the fact that he was a lobbyist is outrageous and it’s wrong,” said Ken Block, (R) Candidate for Rhode Island Governor.
Block wants the fines for unregistered lobbyists raised to $5000 per violation, and the registration fees, too.

Block’s Republican challenger Allan Fung also wants changes in state ethics laws and tougher enforcement by the Ethics Commission.
“The first thing that we have to do is get our General Assembly, back under the Ethics Commission control,” said Mayor Allan Fung, (R) Candidate for Rhode Island Governor.
Fung says that could prevent costly backroom sweetheart deals, like ”38 Studios.”
“That type of check and oversight is critically important to make sure that they follow our ethics laws as well,” said Fung.
Stricter ethics reforms died in the General Assembly this year.
