Gov. Dan McKee to sign housing bills into law

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Governor Dan McKee will sign a series of housing bills into law today, aimed at tackling the housing crisis.
Joined by House Speaker K. Joseph Shekarchi, Lt. Governor Sabina Matos, Mayor Frank Picozzi, and Interim Housing Secretary Dan Connor, the package of 14 bills includes changes to zoning laws and wetlands regulations to spur more home construction.
The laws also amend permit authority, expand manufactured home rights, and allow homeowners the right to build a single accessory dwelling unit on the property.
The official signing will take place at 1:30 p.m. today at the West Shore Terrace Community Building in Warwick.
