Gov. McKee places ban on motorcycles, tractor trailers on RI state roadways Sunday

PROVIDENCE, RI (WLNE) – Gov. Dan McKee has ordered a ban on state roadways for motorcycles and tractor trailers except for those carrying emergency supplies.
“Yesterday we asked you to prepare for the storm, today I’m asking you to stay home,” Gov. Dan McKee said at a press conference at RI EMA headquarters.
Gov. McKee says President Biden has also sent additional FEMA workers to the state to assist in power outages.
President Biden declared a state of emergency in Rhode Island Saturday ahead of the storm.
Rhode Island State Police Col. James Manni says for the most part people have stayed off the roads. He added that surfers are a huge concern during storms like this and are asking surfers to please stay home.
RI National Grid says crews cannot safely go up in boxes right now to fix outages, so it’ll be a while before they can begin to fix any outages. They expect this to be a long-term recovery effort and ask to be patient.
