PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Gov. Gina Raimondo is launching another effort to reform the state’s Medicaid program.
The Democratic governor and Health and Human Services Secretary Elizabeth Roberts are announcing plans for “Reinventing Medicaid 2.0” on Monday.
They say it’s the next step to increasing access to quality, affordable care and building healthier communities.
Last year, Raimondo formed a working group for the first time to recommend ways to manage the Medicaid budget more efficiently and pay for quality services.
It identified millions in savings for the state.
As part of the new effort, Raimondo and Roberts want to improve the health outcomes for residents using Medicaid, leverage federal funding to continue transforming the health care system and coordinate care better.
They also want to ensure that students are trained for health care jobs.
