The search for a new head of the Rhode Island State Police continues, and some local groups are urging Governor Gina Raimondo to recruit women and minority candidates.

The National Association of Black Law Enforcement Officers sent her a letter requesting that she expand the search.

Former State Police Head Col. O’Donnell retired in September.

Lt. Col. Kevin Barry has been serving as superintendent and is being considered for the permanent job.
