Governor on reopening hair salons

During Governor Raimondo’s daily press briefing on Friday, ABC6 asked the Governor about the concerns of hair salon owners who feared they may be among the last businesses in Rhode Island to reopen.  Raimondo said, “I would like to get them reopened as quickly as possible.”  She said that she had been talking to hair salon owners this week about safe ways to reopen with proper cleaning and social distancing, adding, “I’m hopeful you’ll be pleasantly surprised with what we come out with.”

When ABC6 asked about her own hair, Governor Raimondo laughed and said, “It’s long.  It’s overgrown, like a lot of people’s.”

This past Sunday, the Governor said in another daily briefing that salons would be among the last industries to reopen because it requires close contact.  That prompted some salon owners to reach out to Governor Raimondo with thoughts for reopening as soon as possible.
