PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The 13 page response written by Governor Gina Raimondo regarding the release of the 38 Studios documents was released on Tuesday.
This is in response to Attorney General Peter Kilmartin’s objection on the release of the documents from a grand jury investigation.
The governor says she is at odds with the attorney general over the documents saying that the points he made in a legal briefing were wrong.
At one point, she wrote Kilmartin “pays lip service to the public interest in this case.”
No criminal charges have ever been filed regarding the failure of Curt Schilling’s failed $75 million video game company.
Governor Raimondo and the attorney general have been fighting over the release of grand jury documents since civil proceedings in the case wrapped up.
The attorney general calls this a dangerous precedent.
The governor says this is a case that the public deserves to know about.
“I think that in order for the state to move beyond 38 Studios and the millions of dollars that tax payers lost we need full transparency. We should shine a light on it. I’m in favor of letting everything be public so the public can see what happened,” said Governor Raimondo.
The case will go before a judge Wednesday for a hearing in Providence Superior Court.
No ruling is expected, but ABC6 News has been told that a written decision will come at a later date.
