Governor Gina Raimondo is set to unveil a new extensive jobs plan for Quonset Point Tuesday.
This is all a part of the partnership between the state and Electric Boat.
The governor’s main focus throughout her term has been on getting quality jobs back here in Rhode Island and this is her latest effort.
Governor Raimondo and General Dynamics Electric Boat (EB) will unveil a strategic plan today addressing long-term hiring opportunities at Quonset Point.
A year ago, Raimondo’s administration and Electric Boat agreed to work together to bring more jobs to the state of Rhode Island.
Electric Boat stating in January it planned to increase its workforce, mostly in Rhode Island and Connecticut, by 4,000 workers before 2030.
The company’s contract with the U.S. Navy is playing a big part in that.
Electric Boat said they would hire 300 more people at its Quonset Point facility this year to help build a new class of ballistic missile submarines.
The presentation will take place Monday morning at 11:45a.m. at the New England Institute of Technology in Warwick.
