EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office has indicted a man accused of stabbing an individual in the head multiple times back in February.

Last week, a jury indicted Valdini Correia with one count of assault with a dangerous weapon in a dwelling house, one count of assault with intent to murder, one count of burglary of a dwelling house, one count of assault resulting in serious bodily injury, and one count of carrying a knife more than three inches in length.

Police said they received a call around 7 p.m. for a stabbing on Crescent Avenue on Feb. 16.

A second call then came in from the Cumberland Farms on Pawtucket Avenue and Wampanoag Trail, where the victim was found.

The victim, who was stabbed multiple times in the head, was transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

Officials said the incident involved someone Correia knew, and his ex-girlfriend.
