Groups rally to keep Memorial Hospital birthing center open

Community advocates joined up with families affected by the potential closing of Memorial Hospital’s birthing center in a rally outside the Care New England offices.
The group rallied Thursday morning and delivered a petition with over 3,000 signatures in support of maintaining the center and keeping it open.
Memorial Hospital announced last week that it would get rid of its birthing center, the intensive care unit and one of two of its inpatient units.
The hospital was told by the Health Department that the units must stay open until the public can weigh in.
