Guests evacuated, police, SWAT, EMA set up outside Mansfield hotel

MANSFIELD, Mass. (WLNE) — Several police departments, SWAT teams and the Mansfield Emergency Management Agency were seen armed outside of a hotel in Mansfield Tuesday night.

ABC 6 News crews are on Reservoir Street at the Fairfield Inn and Suites hotel where armed police and SWAT were gathered at the front entrance.

A mobile crime lab and Mansfield Emergency Management tent were also observed in the area of the hotel.

Guests staying in the hotel told ABC 6 they were evacuated from the building but do not know why.

The Mansfield Police Department posted on social media advising residents to avoid the area of the hotel. It said there’s no danger to the public at this time.

Crews cleared the scene just before 9 p.m. and did not offer any immediate comment on the reason for the large-scale response.
