Gun control legislation at top of docket for Rhode Island House

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Several bills will be discussed Tuesday at the Rhode Island State House Judiciary Committee, among them a piece of gun legislation.

The new bill sponsored by Rep. Jennifer Boylan would introduce wording of “crime gun” into the bill for weapons, meaning any firearm used in a suspected crime.

Other aspects of the bill would introduce examinations for the crime guns, including police departments submitting the firearms to state labs for testing of the gun’s casings and to have the weapon entered into a national database.

This would be for the purpose of keeping a closer eye on gun usage.
