Gusty storms possible tonight before a great end to the week
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Very warm and humid weather is paving the way for strong storms to roll through Southern New England tonight.
A front well west of us is already causing severe weather across Pennsylvania and New York. Those same storms are expected to arrive here well after sundown.
The greatest threat will be for gusty and potentially damaging straight-line winds. There could also be some hail with these storms.
The threat of rotating thunderstorms and possible tornadoes does diminish significantly to our west, but it can’t completely be ruled out.
These storms are expected between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m., so many may occur while we are asleep. Plan to bring loose objects inside or secure them before going to bed.
Rain should end early tomorrow morning and clouds will give way to sunshine by midday. It will be warm, highs 80-85, but with humidity dropping steadily through the day.
Friday will be fantastic. Wall-to-wall sunshine and highs in the upper 70s with very comfy humidity levels. Saturday will feel similar, but with increasing clouds later in the day.
Showers and storms return Sunday – along with high humidity – as a cold front passes through. This will pave the way for a nice start to July.
