Hazy and Very Warm Thursday
Thursday will have a noticeable veil of haze through the day due to the air flow from distant Canadian wildfires. Most of this haze is in the upper levels of the atmosphere so our ground level air quality will be impacted to a lesser extent. The RI DEM air quality forecast for today puts us in the “Moderate” category. Per the DEM definition, moderate level means, “Air quality is acceptable; however, for some pollutants there may be a moderate health concern for a very small number of people who are unusually sensitive to air pollution.” Our Southern New England forecast for today will be sun-filled, breezy, and very warm with highs near 87 inland and 80 at the beaches. A weak cool front comes through tonight and lows bottom out near 61. Friday finishes out the week with mostly sunny skies and cooler highs in the upper-70s. The weekend will once again be unsettled with clouds and showers Saturday. Saturday temperatures will be much cooler, topping out near 64. Father’s Day Sunday starts with clouds and the chance of s leftover shower. Sunday will be mostly cloudy and milder in the upper-60s. Monday will also be mostly cloudy with highs near 71. Warmer air moves in for Tuesday and Wednesday. Both days will be mostly cloudy with highs in the upper-70s and lower-80s.
