HealthSourceRI announces closures Sunday, special enrollment period

HealthSource RI has announced that its Providence Contact Center and Warwick Walk-in are closed today. February 15th originally marked the nationwide deadline to enroll in a plan for health coverage but because of the closures due to weather, they have created a special enrollment period through Monday, February 23rd.

PROVIDENCE – Due to severe weather conditions, HealthSource RI, Rhode Island’s health benefits exchange, announces that its Contact Centerand Walk-in at 70 Royal Little Drive in Providence and its Walk-in Center at 1923 Post Road in Warwick are closed today. Contact Center staff will not be available by phone today; however, new and renewing customers can compare, choose and pay for a plan online atwww.HealthSourceRI.com. There also will be a Special Enrollment Period available through Monday, February 23, for customers unable to enroll today due to the closing.

Normal activities will resume tomorrow as new and renewing customers can compare, choose and pay for a plan at www.HealthSourceRI.com or by calling 1-855-840-4774 or by visiting the Providence contact center and walk-in at 70 Royal Little Drive or the walk-in center at 1923 Post Road, Warwick. Hours for both locations are Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, 12:00 noon to 6 p.m.

Those who are interested in enrolling should bring with them:
 
• Valid form of identification
• Last year’s tax form/tax information and information about current income including 4 weeks of pay stubs if available
• Social Security numbers/immigration documents
• Information about any health insurance you currently have
• Names of any current doctors you want to keep

Rhode Islanders must enroll in a plan and pay the first month’s premium by February 23 for coverage beginning on March 1 or risk paying a penalty to the federal government.
