Hearings for Mezzo Lounge and Saje Kitchen postponed

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The future of two Providence businesses was left up in the air Thursday.

Hearings for Mezzo Lounge and Saje Kitchen were pushed off a week at the Providence Board of Licenses meeting.

Saje has been closed since a knife-fight broke out inside on Nov. 8, while Mezzo Lounge was ordered closed after a shots-fired incident on Nov. 17.

Mezzo was recently allowed to reopen after an appeal to the Rhode Island Department of Business Regulations.

“They’re gonna have extra security in the parking lots, more security in the building,” Board of Licenses Vice President Peter Mancini said. “Hopefully that’s going to keep this quiet until the next hearing.”

Saje Kitchen remains closed until its next hearing.

Both cases will be reevaluated at the next board meeting.
