Heat index peaks Wednesday hitting upper 90s in some areas
Storms possible tomorrow, heat breaks by the weekend
Good morning!
Today will likely be the hottest and most humid day of our week, with heat index values this afternoon reaching into the upper 90s inland. As a result, we have a heat advisory in effect until tomorrow evening, so be sure to take heat precautions if you spend any time outside today. Take frequent breaks, stay hydrated, and check in on anyone that you know may be vulnerable in this heat. There’s a chance of a spot shower this afternoon but it’s hit-or-miss, very similar to yesterday.
Tomorrow will be just as hot and humid but a bit more unsettled as a front rolls through, with a round of showers in the morning and some thunderstorms likely in the evening. The timing and coverage of these storms is uncertain at the moment as happens regularly with summer storms, but we will hone in on that more tomorrow.
Originally, we thought this front would be slow-moving and shower/storm activity would spill over into Friday, but some welcome news this morning is that the front has sped up a bit. I think this results in Friday being dry with a good amount of sunshine! The heat and humidity finally begin to diminish Friday evening heading into the weekend.
Saturday is the pick of the weekend with lots of sunshine, temperatures in the low 80s, and low humidity – Sunday is more unsettled with a chance for some showers and storms.
Stay cool today!
