Drying out on Thursday before a chilly end to the week
A soaking rain is underway across the area, continuing through the pre-dawn hours of Thursday. It’s also a bit blustery, and some wind gusts could exceed 40 mph.
The persistent south wind could also cause some minor coastal flooding at the shore during overnight high tides.
Showers shut off early Thursday morning, but developing fog could slow down your commute. Otherwise, it will be a mostly cloudy and mild (50s) day – perhaps a poke of afternoon sun.
Other than a spotty evening shower, skies will clear Thursday night as colder and windy conditions surge in.
Highs will return to the 40s on Friday, and it will feel even colder. Despite plenty of sunshine, it will feel like the 30s with 25-30 mph sustained winds. It may also gust 40-50 mph at times.
Winds subside into the weekend, but seasonably chilly temperatures in the low 40s continue. Sun and clouds will mix, making for an overall decent weekend.
This means a good forecast for Providence’s annual St. Patrick’s Day parade on Saturday at noon!
