Heavy, wind-driven rain continues through dawn with multiple flooding ramifications
Rain and wind are really picking up out there. Flooding from rain and snow melt as well as numerous power outages are anticipated. The coastline is not only dealing with the highest winds, but also coastal flooding. Minor to moderate coastal flooding is possible from Westerly to Westport during the Wednesday morning high tides.
Temperatures have already risen to near 50. Combine all the heavy rain with the melting snowpack and you will get some significant river flooding in the days ahead, with flood warnings already being preemptively issued for the Pawtuxet, Blackstone and Wood rivers.
Dry weather is expected through Friday, with seasonable highs in the 40’s. However, we are watching yet another storm for Friday night that will likely drop a quick 1-2″ of rain with some gusty winds as well – but not as strong as those of tonight’s storm.
