The defense did everything they could to prevent Alexander Bradley from taking the stand in the first murder trial of Aaron Hernandez. They called him a ‘wild card’ who could cause a mistrial. But in the end the judge would allow him to testify with certain topics excluded.

Hernandez gave his former friend an icy glare as he took the stand. Bradley has immunity in this case and told prosecutors about seeing a safe in the former Patriot star’s basement.

“There was a firearm in the box before. I saw cash in there. I saw marijuana joints as well,” he testified.

Hernandez’s fiancée has already admitted to getting rid of a similarly shaped box in the days following the murder of Odin Lloyd. Prosecutors allege the missing murder weapon was inside.

The Connecticut man also tied Hernandez to another weapon. Bradley says Hernandez was holding a black gun in a Florida hotel room. That was during a visit with his alleged gun runner, Oscar Hernandez, who is of no relation, four months before the murder.

“It appeared to be a Glock to me,” testified Bradley.

The State has said Hernandez was holding a Glock .45 in home security video. The defense has argued it’s a remote or iPad. Lloyd was undisputedly killed with a .45 caliber gun in the North Attleboro industrial park. Interestingly Bradley was also shot in an industrial park, allegedly by Hernandez.

The judge ruled that the jury would not hear about that incident for which the ex–football player was never charged. Jurors also not allowed to hear about Hernandez’s paranoia.

“He thought he was being followed by helicopters or tailed by police– the feds. He would say all types of law enforcement that he was being followed by,” testified Bradley.

Bradley did recall seeing Odin Lloyd for the first time during the holiday season a few years ago. He testified that Lloyd was holding hands with his girlfriend, Shaneah Jenkins, who is the sister of Hernandez’s fiancée, Shayanna. When Lloyd walked away Bradley says he didn’t say hi.

Hernandez called Lloyd “rude.”

Prosecutors are expected to rest their case on Thursday.
