High concern for coastal flooding amid Monday’s heavy wind and rain

NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WLNE) — Coastal flooding was a high concern amid heavy wind and rain across Southern New England on Monday.

A coastal flood advisory was in effect until 8 a.m.

Waves crashed along the seawall at Narragansett Town Beach as rain came down.

The potentially hazardous weather disrupted Block Island Ferry service Sunday evening into early Monday.

The 6:30 a.m. ferry from Point Judith and the 8:15 a.m. ferry from Block Island were cancelled ahead of the height of the storm.

Hydroplaning and visibility were also concerns throughout the storm.

Drivers, especially in coastal areas, were advised to give themselves plenty of time and drive slower than usual.
