Highlights from the 2024 Celtics Championship Parade
BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — Downtown Boston was the place to be on Friday as the 2024 NBA Champions rolled through on a cavalcade of duck boats.
Thousands of fans gathered on Boylston Street to glimpse history in honoring the Boston Celtics’ run for their 18th banner.
Fans arrived early, with the streets packed two hours before the parade started.
One Coventry resident shared her excitement for head coach Joe Mazzulla being a Johnston native.
“Shoutout to Joe,” Lauren Jennings said. “Bringing it home to the 401. It’s awesome to be from there and represent.”
Celtics big man Kristaps Porzingis was a major hit amongst the fans at the celebration.
“When he was drafted, they asked, ‘Who’s ‘Tingus Pingus?'” Jack Hughes from Boston said. “Tingus Pingus is a champion!”
Fans traveled from near and far to see their beloved C’s parade through Boston.
“We came over just to come and party,” Darragh O’Leary from Ireland said. “Went to the games and stuff last week. It was insane.”
“I’ve been following the NBA my whole life and always supported Celtics,” Tom Murnine added. “I remember my first basketball memory was watching them win in 2008, so this is special.”
