Holiday magic returns to the Newport Mansions

NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) — A beloved holiday tradition has returned to the Newport Mansions.
The Preservation Society of Newport County said the halls are decked at The Breakers, Marble House, and The Elms.
The inside of the mansions are adorned with holiday décor, themed Christmas trees, and floral arrangements — including the popular 15-foot-tall poinsettia tree in the Great Hall of The Breakers.

Rosecliff will be open daily from Dec. 4 to New Year’s Day but will not be decorated for the holidays.
All properties are closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas, and will close at 2 p.m. on Dec. 24.
Tickets to visit the mansions this holiday season are available online.

“Sparkling Lights at The Breakers” began Friday and will cast a warm glow over the grounds through the end of December.
“We started ‘Sparkling Lights at The Breakers’ in 2020 during the pandemic because people were looking for outdoor experiences,” said Trudy Coxe, CEO of The Preservation Society of Newport County. “Since then, it has grown every year and has become a holiday tradition for many in New England and beyond.”
The lights display features a 50-foot long, 26-foot-tall display on the back lawn in the outline of a train, inspired from the Vanderbilts’ New York Central and Hudson River Railroad.
