Homeless man accused of stabbing another man in eye

A homeless man is accused of stabbing another man in the eye during a fight in Mansfield Tuesday night.

Police say they were called to the scene on North Main Street at around 10:15 p.m. for the report of a fight.

When they arrived they found victim but the suspect had fled. The victim was taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital.

Officers were able to locate the suspect, 37-year-old Shane Butler, on Thomas Street where he was arrested after a struggle.

Butler is charged with  Assault w/intent to Murder, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault and Battery, Resisting Arrest, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Threat to Commit Crime to wit Murder, Disorderly Conduct and Disturbing the Peace.
