Silver Lake murder suspect arraigned, but 14-year-old girl still missing

PROVIDENCE, R.I (WLNE) – Felix Hernandez Rosado, also known as Javier Hernadez, was arraigned on a first degree murder charge Wednesday more than a week after police issued a warrant calling the 18-year-old potentially armed and dangerous.

“As soon as he learned about the warrant, he made arrangements to turn himself in,” said his attorney, Joseph Voccola. “He did that voluntarily. That’s a huge step in the right direction.”

It’s in connection to the July 1 homicide on Progress Avenue of Jorge Gonzalez-Colon.

According to an affidavit, Gonzalez-Colon was not the intended target. Instead, the target was the man he was talking to at the time.

Voccola says his client did not know the victim.

“It’s obviously a tragedy, what took place there,” he said. “The manner in which the victim died, no one should have to end their life in that manner. However, there’s a whole other side to the story. Unfortunately, at this early stage, I’m not at liberty to discuss that.”

The incident took place next to the home of 14-year-old Aliah Trinidad, who went missing shortly afterward.

A no-contact order was also issued against Hernandez on Wednesday, preventing him from seeing Trinidad.

“They did charge him with a third-degree sexual offense charge with respect to the girlfriend,” Voccola said. “Nothing alleged between the two of them was non-consensual. Any information with respect to where she is or who she’s living with, I don’t have any of that information.”

If you have any information on Trinidad’s whereabouts, you are asked to call police. Authorities previously stated that she may be in danger or require medical attention.

Hernandez also faces gun-related charges and is due back in court July 29th.
