Honduran national admits to Social Security fraud

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — United States Attorney Zachary Cunha said a Honduran national who has repeatedly entered the country illegally admitted he entered the country using the name and Social Security number of another person.

42-year-old Belfran Joel Najera-Chirinos plead guilty to illegal reentry after deportation and Social Security fraud.

Najera-Chirinos was removed from the country in 2007, 2018, and October 2019.

Cunha said when he was arrested Najera-Chirinos provided a different name and a Puerto Rican driver’s license.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on April 16.
